Avery

The last two weeks, Avery has come home from church and practically recited her whole Sunday school lesson to me. Her retention level has jumped immensely.

A few weeks ago her story was about Moses. We re-read the story together on her Sunday school handout. The next day I heard her playing with babydolls. She said to Cambria, "shut the door. The killers are coming." Then, she rocked her baby in her arms and said, "don't worry baby, I won't let them kill you." I was disturbed...wondering where did she learn about killers. Then, I realized she was pretending the story of Moses.

This week's story was about Daniel in the lion's den. What might come from that?

Happy Chinese New Year!

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year! Tonight we went out for our Chinese New Year's celebration and had a wonderful time. Thanks to my friend Ginger, we recently found a nicer Chinese restaurant to take our family (much better than the ones in Maple Valley). The older girls get a kick out of the lazy susan on the table. It's definitely a highlight for them. The food and family fun is the highlight for Jeff and I.

Carys is babbling!

Carys starting saying, "ba-ba" today. Here is a little clip from our Chinese New Year meal:

Carys at 7.5 months

Carys is 7 1/2 month old now. Her sisters love to dress her up. She is a happy, fairly laid-back baby. Her smiles light up our days. We can't imagine that last year we didn't know her. She is not moving around yet and has not cut any teeth. Mommy is not complaining about the moving part. She'll be moving soon enough and our lives will never be the same again. She has several nicknames: "Carys Khan", "Carys Cone" (since she like the ice cream cone that Daddy let her try), "Carys Clown" (see below), "Carys Crown" (also see below) and the most popular Carys-e.

Afternoon at Green Lake

Last Sunday, the sun came out!!! We've had two weeks of air stagnation -- which means low fog that doesn't clear and bad air quality. So, when the sun came out we threw out the nap schedule and headed out to Green Lake for a family day. Here are some pics:

Children's Museum

There is a children's museum in Bellevue and they have free admission on Friday nights. So, we risked the meltdown of our kids and hit the museum. The girls had a great time with the water area, instruments, tree house, trains, etc. It was a fun and inexpensive evening! Oh yea, and it ended with each child melting down. :-)
